BactiDefense was founded on a patented antimicrobial breakthrough developed in the early 2000s by Augustin Rosas Maxemin and a Stanford research partner. Their discovery — a molecular chain that bonds to surfaces and eliminates harmful microbes — became the foundation of our core technology.
This innovation was successfully deployed in major sports stadiums, schools, museums, and U.S. military installations, proving highly effective against viruses, bacteria, and molds. Following these results, we refined our delivery systems and expanded production to serve residential, commercial, and institutional environments.
In response to the lessons of the COVID-19 pandemic, BactiDefense remains committed to advancing long-lasting, environmentally responsible microbial protection. Our evolution from oil-based to high-performing water-based formulations reflects our dedication to both public health and sustainability.

Jon Rayner, CEO & CMO
Jon Rayner is passionate about service to others and honorable business pursuits. With a background in behavioral sciences, including Sociology and Psychology, Jon has excelled as a high-level marketing strategist for multiple ventures. He is currently the CEO of BactiDefense California, the exclusive distributor for BactiDefense Technologies, which produces eco-friendly, patented products to protect against viruses, bacteria, mold, and fungi. Jon also founded San Diego Social Leagues, a 501(C)(3) non-profit organization. His vision for enhancing social capital through sports, social, and charitable events has engaged now over 50,000 annual participants, fostering quality relationships and community engagement.
Derek Meadows, COO
Derek Meadows, co-founder of PureWine Inc, is known for producing the top-selling Wine Wand. Holding degrees in Geology and Sustainability Management, Derek's diverse background extends to athletic and artistic performance. He was a Junior Olympic National Champion in artistic gymnastics, an NCAA Football and Diving athlete, and later a Cirque Artist performing in prestigious events like the Pasadena Rose Parade and Sea World's Cirque Electrique show. Beyond his athletic achievements, Derik qualified for season 8 of American Ninja Warrior. His unique blend of scientific knowledge and artistic talent drives his innovative approach to business and leadership.

With a background rooted in scientific development and practical application, Augustin has focused on bridging the gap between laboratory-grade antimicrobial effectiveness and scalable, everyday use. His work with BactiDefense centers on delivering durable, high-performance protective technologies engineered to reduce contamination risk, enhance safety, and improve outcomes in high-touch and high-risk settings. Augustin’s approach is defined by a commitment to innovation, efficacy, and accessibility—ensuring that advanced antimicrobial protection is not only effective, but also viable across industries ranging from healthcare and hospitality to consumer products.
Thomas Hubka, CFO
Versatile bio-pharmaceutical finance experience and operations professional with leadership experience in both public and private company settings. Skilled in financial statement preparation and analysis including SEC reporting, support of public offerings and internal reporting. Extensive operating experience in financial planning and development programs, business development, licensing, M&A, legal affairs, contracts, insurance, lease negotiations and other corporate administrative and governance matters.
